Developers and dignitaries symbolically broke ground Friday on a new $50 million upscale hotel in Detroit’s Central Business District.
The six-story, 158-room Cambria Hotel is expected to open in the third quarter of next year along with accompanying shops and restaurants, according to a news release. Developers had originally targeted June to tap into the inaugural spring edition of the North American International Auto Show.
The project at Lafayette Boulevard and Third Avenue involves redeveloping the 90,000-square-foot historic Walker-Roehrig Building and connecting it to 150,000 square feet of new modular construction to be erected on an adjacent parking lot.
