Everybody knows about downtown’s District Detroit, led by the Illitch family, the billions of dollars in investments from Quicken Loans CEO Dan Gilbert, and Invested in Detroit, JPMorgan’s neighborhood-by-neighborhood campaign to revive local real estate, but far less has been written about the greater metro Detroit area.
An August report from Alarm.org listed 10 Detroit suburbs among the safest cities in the U.S. A month or so later, an investment group led by Detroit native, real estate developer and Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross announced that it’s putting nearly $30 million behind a project to bring new housing to neighborhoods not yet part of significant development areas.
