A new jobs report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics shows dramatic growth in Detroit.
Today, 225,758 Detroit residents are employed — up 19,190 since January 2014, when newly re-elected Mayor Mike Duggan first took office. This is the highest level of employment in the last seven years.
Detroit’s unemployment rate was 17.6% in January 2014. Since then, nearly 20,000 more Detroiters have gained employment. This year alone, 6,811 Detroiters found jobs, representing one of the largest year over year gains in more than a decade.
