Pioneer Homes founder and CEO Al Beahn, a lifelong Detroiter and go-to source for local business news, recently penned an open letter to Jeff Bezos on why Amazon belongs in the Motor City.
Quicken Loans CEO and the biggest landlord in Downtown Detroit, Dan Gilbert — who’s leading the charge to bring the new, second Amazon headquarters here — backed Al’s claims, providing Crain’s Detroit Business with a variety of reasons to bring the corporate giant to America’s Great Comeback city.
“We have a path on the real estate to get you your 8 million-plus (square) feet that nobody has because of the concentration of ownership we have and the land that we have and the developments that can happen,” said Gilbert. “Your million (square) feet that you need in 2019, we have it for you in beautiful, renovated, cool downtown buildings.”
